Background

Many people drive past the City of Bunbury on their way to or from Western Australia’s southwest. The City wanted to develop a strategy to encourage visitors to turn off the main roads and into the City and its CBD. Once there, people need to find their way to parking and facilities.

The strategy included:

  1. Destination marketing signage to attract people into Bunbury – the messaging was being created by as part of the tourism marketing strategy
  2. Entry Statements to promote arrival in Bunbury
  3. Directional Signage identifying available services and parking in the CBD
  4. An audit of current signs and recommendations on changes needed to ensure a high quality wayfinding system

Findings & Results

Wayfound produced a comprehensive tourism signage strategy that provides the foundation for the City’s planning and expenditure on tourism-related signage. It provides scope and flexibility to accommodate future tourism marketing campaigns and messages. Clear information on signage gaps and improvements needed is provided. A staged implementation plan is also included so signage can be rolled out according to the City’s budget and priorities.

Throughout the project Wayfound demonstrated their knowledge in tourism signage and wayfinding. We found them easy to work with and would not hesitate recommending them to any LGA looking to conduct a similar project.
