Bathurst Regional Council adopted a new Destination Management Plan in 2019 in which it specifies the need for a review of existing signage and development of a strategic approach to tourism signage. Bathurst Regional Council last developed a Signage Strategy (in-house) in 2013.

Wayfound was commissioned by Bathurst Regional Council to develop a whole of destination integrated tourism wayfinding and signage strategy . The purpose of the Strategy is to ensure that current and future signage facilitates safe and positive journeys and enhances the dispersal of visitors and their connection with the people and the places of the Bathurst Region. Improved tourism signage will help to create positive first impressions, assist easy and safe visitor movement and wayfinding, inform visitors of the range of attractions and services available at the destination and increase business confidence and civic pride within the Bathurst community.

The strategy was delivered in the following stages;

  1. Pre-visit research and project planning.
  2. Entire Bathurst Regional tourism signage audit and stakeholder engagement.
  3. Development and delivery of the completed signage audit report, signage strategy and implementation plan.

Bathurst Regional Council selected Wayfound in a highly competitive process to deliver a ‘Tourism Wayfinding & Signage Strategy’ for the Bathurst region, and LGA encompassing approximately 3,818km².

Wayfound were a pleasure to work with throughout the project. Kim facilitated community and industry consultation sessions with tact and skill and worked closely and responsively with key Council staff. All milestones were achieved in timely fashion and the final strategy and accompanying audit of signage exceeded expectations, being a fine piece of work that will provide a highly usable strategic framework to effectively guide a complex sequence of works over the next 12-36 month period.

I would highly commend the professional services of Wayfound based upon my personal experience.
